The Arts & Entertainment industry has been in stasis since March, with many established festivals having to cancel or postpone and beloved, busy venues having to close their doors. Thousands of casual and contract workers lost their jobs overnight and all plans were put on hold.
From my experience working with events professionals is that there is always a creative solution to any problem, and in the five months after the initial cancellations, innovative ways to provide entertainment for audiences are popping up, be it online or physically distanced. While government bodies figure out what the benchmark will be for capacity planning, recording attendance, sanitation, and everything else, there are artists, production managers, technical crew and event specialists working towards creative solutions in this “new normal”.
Here I wanted to put together some examples of these great shows and events, and profile the intriguing, unique ways that organisers are creating experiences for their audiences.
